ABIGAIL FALLIS
Born in East London, England. Fallis first came to public attention with her framed series of embellished men's 'Y-fronts' which played on the UK's 'Cool Britannia' reputation. Re-presenting symbols of nationhood in stitched-on images and subverted text. Fallis is interested in topical issues that affect our daily lives and often deploys a double-edged sense of humour to deliver her ideas. She experiments widely with materials from bronze to shopping trolleys. Her works combine an unconventional beauty with subtle comments on issues that trouble her. Evident in such work as “Tuna Fish with Strings attached” a bronze coated Tuna fish skeleton with fixed steel guitar strings, an audible comment on our unsustainable lifestyles. Fallis has shown throughout her career including: The Line Sculpture Trail / The Cass Sculpture Foundation/Beaux Arts london/Trolley gallery London/Pangolin London. Her work is part of public and private collections including Parabola Land Ltd,Hix restaurants and The Hirst Murderme Collection. In 2016 Abigail became a member of The Royal Society of British Sculptors. MRBS.
